September Update - 9/04/2020

Posted by CentaurWorks - September 4th, 2020

Before going in, if you like my content, please consider watching me, follow or subscribe to me on Twitch, or even support me on patreon.

Originally I intended to do this in August but time is funny and it doesn't often agree with what you want to do. So here's my plans for the rest of the year, well hopefully.

Discord Reopened!

I ended up closing the links to my Discord server to try to reboot it, and a month later, I think the reboot was pretty successful. If you want a place to casually chat or even discuss about OCs, my discord is now up and live for the public!

Art-Related

Right now I'm in a good place with my art and improving as time goes on. I'm all set for at for September and I am planning on taking a break in November to work on gifts for December 2020. What I have planned for the art of 2020 is somewhat standard with 2 pictures I'm really proud of with one being a bit of practice with perspective. The transition to Clip Studio Paint has been great! And while I still use Photoshop, it is much more for Graphic Designing than art. Look forward to some pictures coming soon at the good old Saturday time at 3pmET.

Commissions are still open and will forever be open at this point and with my art getting better, I ended up revising my commission prices and sheets to something more fitting and I feel like go with my current style but still pretty cheep:

I do not expect to do another revision anytime soon, while my skill will increase overtime, I also need to factor in other artists as much as that is unhealthy in some cases. You will get competition even if you don't intend for it. Regardless, I am very glad that I was able to do this.

I will also be participating in #OCtober again this year, I actually have a prompt list down this time and I'm most likely going to start on either this weekend or next weekend. While my goal is to get at least 15 or 16 images done, I'm hoping to complete every single day. Quality might swing and dip and rise, it all depends on time and how I feel like the piece should be portrayed. I do feel bad for avid followers and participants of Inktober, with all the drama right. But I hope they still do something for October, since it seemed like so many people were having fun with it. So yeah, if everything goes smoothly it's looking like a good plan for art for the Fall.

Writing/Literature

This is something I want to try to do again or at least more so. With all the character bios I've written, I feel like I should at least try to work on stories of my characters to try to show them off to the world more, an artwork might say 1000 words, but my art hasn't been that dynamic enough to show off that for a while XD;

Artwork above is a commission I got from EryNeko-art, an one of the examples of things I want to do. Why not get more out of these commissions by using them as covers or inspirations for stories to tell later on. Though currently, two stories will be on official hiatus: Love-Sick Fish, and the story of how Drake got the Snow Princess powers, one of these already has chapters out and another is an idea. A part of the reason why LSF is on hiatus is due to not being able to sit down and continue it after so long of a wait, honestly as I'm typing this I'm considering doing a refresh on the series. But the main reason is because of what happens in them doesn't really sit well with me especially both in our current environment, and because I don't want to be similar to a popular but bad writer that has relied on this horrible trope in his light novels for far too long. The story for Drake might get a rework, but considering how much of a part of LSF in it's original plan is a big reason for why Michiko is an addictive bookworm changing it is harder than I thought. I do know that a story about Michiko in her Magical Bride form has also been brewing for quite some time, I don't know when I'll begin to work on it, but a rough idea of it is on ToyHouse already if you want to check it out. Hopefully new stories coming in the future, and maybe one day I'll get back to or restart Love-Sick Fish again.

Characters and ToyHouse related

So, as of right now I have 375 characters. That is a CRAP ton and I know that not all of them will get the spotlight they deserve. In addition the majority of updates and reboots are posted much earlier on ToyHouse, the old wiki still exists but no longer freshly updated. Reboots of characters are trickling out on Sundays, with other parts coming out later.

I do need to do more written works of my characters, or even short comics related to them. I think it's clear that I'm heavily invested in my little world of characters. Overtime I'm hoping that more and more people know about my characters, but I know that's not an easy hill to climb so I'm going to try my damnedest to go as far as I can before age ends up making me tired to do so. Like every year, there will be another OC Voting for the year and I'll be curious to see which characters get voted, though there will be a new rule added to promote not voting for the same characters over and over.

Other Sites Art Is On

My art is also on other platforms such as:

Some sites are harder to do than others since I heavily rely on scheduling my art. I was considering pouring my eggs into the dA and Twitter basket as dumb as that is with the changing landscape of the internet. However, thanks to Postybirb I have been able to schedule my content for other sites. It's a blessing especially for Newgrounds which doesn't have a scheduling feature. I'm always looking into other sites to post art and videos on since I'm paranoid about losing so much. I'll keep looking and adding which places I'll be on. In the meantime, check these places out.

Streaming

I stream on Twitch.tv with a schedule that is more shifting than my art posting. Because of real-life, I did have to change my schedule around to have it all fit and right now I stream on Fridays - Mondays at 9pmET. There's a good chance Art Streams will be changed to pop-up streams and and even more likely chance that the friday streams will be going all together. 2020 is the year of shifting tides and I do believe this will be no different. If you want to see the changing schedule, it is now on my Twitch channel as well so I recommend you check that out.

Videos

While the schedule for videos is much more sporadic, I do have a YouTube channel where I focus on uploading videos. However, I think it's clear that it's not my major focus, it's never really been the big focus despite probably being on of the most important parts to try to get noticed on the internet. One of the goals was to do 2 videos a month, while not as often as the art it felt like a better way to get videos done and out. Sadly, time does not stand still and I don't balance my schedule as well as I would like. Once I have enough videos in a backlog, that's when I'll start uploading again but at this time, it's not the case. Also, given the heavy reliance on scheduling and how it makes it private when you schedule videos, it's going to be a bit harder/longer process to show off videos to my patrons early so standby on what might change.

Thank you for staying with me and reading through this. I'm hoping that the rest of 2020 will be at least stable enough to walk across. GG and I hope you all stay safe!
